Its a film of me talking about the materials, processes and ideas that underpin the work Material Presence.

Pete, I believe must be some kind of magician at his art, somehow he managed to get me to relax enough to talk about the work in front of a camera!

An article titled ‘An Archive of Longing’, that discusses the work Material Presence, is in the August issue of CCQ, A Creative Conversation – to read the article on-line please click on the image.

Many thanks to Dr. Natasha Mayo, always always a joy working with you!

‘Ceramicist, Zoe Preece’s recent exhibition Material Presence: A Domestic Scene explored the unnoticed voids and gaps of domestic life; temporary absences; things left behind; the indentations of family life. A conversation for the opening event devised by Natasha Mayo explored Preece’s early encounters with clay, her technical expertise and her fascination with the lacunae that puncture our daily lives.

The end of Y Lle Celf, the National Eisteddfod of Wales, Cardiff, 2018

It was such a pleasure to meet with the people from the Josef Herman Society.

My favourite part was being told the story of Josef Herman meeting his glamorous wife (I think from Glasgow but I may need to check on that!) and falling in love.

Me and the lovely people I met from the Josef Herman Society.

Just so happy to have been awarded the Josef Herman Award, The Peoples Choice at Y Lle Celf, the National Eisteddfod of Wales, Cardiff 2018.

This award feels very important to me – when you make work you hope very much that in some way it might move those who come and see it. It was a pleasure to meet Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport Dafydd Ellis-Thomas.

Thank you so much to the Contemporary Art Society of Wales (CASW).

I met with Andrew Renton, Keeper of Art at the National Museum of Wales to discuss the work, and had the most wonderful conversation with him. What a pleasure talking with him.

Overjoyed to have Material Presence selected for Y Lle Celf in the National Eisteddfod of Wales, Cardiff 2018.  This year the exhibition will be held in the Sennedd in Cardiff Bay.

Sean Harris has done a wonderful job curating the show in what is quite an extraordinary building.  It has been a joy setting up here at the Sennedd, so much warmth, curiosity and interest from the people working here.

In January 2015, I co-curated ‘The Sensorial Object’ with Dr. Natasha Mayo, an exhibition exploring the sensory capacity of the material object.  The exhibition brought together digital technologies with the long established traditions of ceramics, textiles and glass in the work of eight artists of which I was one.
